“When Worlds Collide: Mental Illness, Developmental Disabilities
and Aging,”
  Friday, June 15, 2018

The italicized title above is our current working title. David J. Lillesand, JD-FPA will be the keynote speaker. Conference Committee Chair, Kelli K. Perk, Esq, was drawn to this particular topic as she sees an increasing number of related APS cases:

  • Older adults with mental illness
  • Aging parents who are caring for either mentally ill or developmentally
    disabled children
  • A need for legal, social work, and transition planning to prevent a situation
    of neglect, or self neglect

Stay tuned for further C3A Consortium conference updates as they develop.

The United Nations General Assembly, in resolution 66/127, designated June 15
as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD). It is an annual observance during
which the world voices its opposition to the abuse and suffering inflicted on older
adults. An increasing number of activities and events are held across the globe on
this day in order to raise awareness of elder abuse, and to promote solutions to
the problem. Watch for WEAAD events in Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, and
Medina counties. They will be posted here
