New State Adult Protective Services Guidelines

The Administration for Community Living (ACL), a division of the US Department of Health and Human Services, has just released a draft of Voluntary Guidelines for State APS Systems.

The Voluntary Guidelines were developed by experts in the field of adult abuse, so that all older Americans – regardless of the state or jurisdiction in which they live – can enjoy uniform protections and service delivery from Adult Protective Services (APS) systems throughout the US.

The ACL wants your input on the Guidelines so that they can be refined and improved upon. You are encouraged to submit your comments and suggestions on the Voluntary Consensus Guidelines Comment Form posted on the ACL website. Comments and suggestions from the public will be received through October 13, 2015.

ACL will review all submissions through October 13, 2015, and, then, finalize the updated Voluntary State Guidelines based on your comments and suggestions. ACL intends to release the “Final Guidelines,” along with a summary of your comments and suggestions, in late December 2015,
